Connecticut’s application development companies are experiencing steady growth as the industry continues to expand and attract more investments. This is one of the reasons why the state’s app developers have one of the highest average annual salaries in the nation – most recently calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to be $96,370. The Connecticut Department of Labor’s Office of Research projects that in the decade leading up to 2022, app developer jobs in the state will increase by 21 percent.
A recent 2013 $950,000 investment in local app development, software, and IT companies by the Connecticut Innovations technology association has underscored the strength and projected growth of the state’s app industry. The app development company Shizzlr – based in Orange and developer of 15 apps already – was the recipient of $200,000 alone. Connecticut recognizes that developing its app industry will have broader economic ramifications. CTIA-The Wireless Association released an analysis in 2012 that showed Connecticut’s app industry was generating $294 million each year.
