Utah’s app developers have shown strong growth in the recent past, and are predicted to grow at one of the highest rates in the nation going forward into the future.
In 2010 the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported there was a total of 4,100 app developers working in Utah. Just four years later that figure had climbed more than 85 percent to 7,750. In a longer-term forecast the Utah Department of Workforce Services projects that in the decade leading up to 2022, app developer jobs statewide will grow by a staggering 41 percent, which translates into 410 openings each year.
Earning an average of $89,610 in 2014, Utah’s 7,750 app developers will enjoy living and working in a state whose government and business leaders support them. After all, as estimated by the mobile wireless industry trade group CTIA, Utah’s app industry generates $192 million each year. That is one of the reasons behind a recent app contest that offered $15,000 in prizes to Utah app developers, sponsored by leading businesses, financial institutions, and Ogden officials who are hoping to turn that city into the state’s app capital.
The ongoing success story of Utah’s app developers is made possible by a fast and connected internet infrastructure.
